Hot Spot Sundays

ROOSEVELT SPLASH

Pool parties are a must/given during the summer time madness here in Los Angeles. The social society of  Hollywood cliques, rookies, and veterans hit the Hotels, Hill parties, and well anything given an excuse to wear dental floss in broad daylight and show off the eight packs where “Less is more” … fun, that is.

Now, here’s where it gets confusing. We have beaches and running/hiking trails that are commonly known to having these types of crowds, but the only difference is that…there’s no bottle service, no Djs and Molly is probably a real girl, so you might actually find her.
With pool parties, What happens in the water stays in the water until you find it floating the next morning. Pool Maintenance please!

The famous Roosevelt Hotel known for its ghost stories, celebrities and parties. I’ve frequented here many of times and for a number of years, where by now you’d think I was a member. Every year they throw a newly promoted pool party and well…with every year there are the changes. I can’t really say it’s anything like it use to be those were some wild times but still entertaining to say the least.

Initially I came here for a birthday celebration and wasn’t planning on getting crazy, sexy, fun, but I always find room for it. It definitely brought back some reminiscent memories but fell short a few notches. Like any Hollywood hot spot, generally speaking, you run into people you either haven’t seen in a few years, been trying to avoid or just saw the night before…including the Walk of shame. The celebrity clientele has definitely hit its low, but the stilettos are still at a high. The popping bottles without the models, Both male and female, has changed its course…maybe because they’ve upgraded and the food at $24 for chicken strips and fries at the same size of a Happy Meal, is just as shameless as the human bear dancing at the bar. Aside from all that it’s still considered a HotSpotSunday retreat.

On this specific Sunday, the hippest streetwear brand in LosAngeles Joyrich threw a party that not only added more clothing, but a more cooler vibe. You could definitely tell them apart from the typical party goer and the average tourist, Hence the guy grabbing at every girl. The girls wore more trendsetting attire that still enhanced a discreet sex appeal and well the guys…well, they could care less about the sparkly blue stuff that they disregarded in the invitation. “Who needs a pool, I’ve got a water bottle right here!” nothing says attraction like a Don’t care attitude…..to a certain extent.

Unlike many of the Lets take a selfie groups, I found this circle more hypnotic and intriguing. 1. because I wanted to know if they were dying in this ungodly heat 2. I wanted that damn jersey some of the guys were wearing and 3. they play by their own rules…who doesn’t find that hot? I spotted quite a few of these party goers, and I couldn’t help myself with the flash of my camera.

Isn’t she absolutely gorgeous!? profile and all. If there’s anything I love more is the diversity in style aside from the cliche Barbies and Kens They’re so overrated. That’s what makes this city so enticing, is having individuals that seperate themselves from the common illusions and leave you feeling more alive than a shot straight out of the bottle. Unfortunately this is only occasional. I’ve been to a few of their parties and frankly it’s less of a superficial hassle from the norm.

This is not the norm. In fact I don’t understand it at all and assuming neither does the girl In red who doesn’t seem all that amused of her space being over shadowed by a mystical human being. Entertaining yeah, necessary? Not if I’m not the one being paid to be a mermaid. Typically at these pool parties, a small percentage are in the pool and the rest are either frolicking around or dancing to the music.

Honestly speaking, it’s all in the promotional aspect. What was once six years ago isn’t going to necessarily stay as now, but it continues as the tradition in competition with everything else. If you’re not planning on buying a table or being a hotel guest don’t feel discouraged in attending this Splish Splash festival during the heat wave month. I might be a tad bit biased considering my memorable experiences, but I still say that if you’re looking for that “Hollywood Summer Experience” then these spots might be places you’d want to hit up. But first….
