Social Saturday

I LOVE MY COCO CHANEL

Los Angeles. The city of glitz and glam. A city of celebrity status and fame. A city where with every corner you turn, there’s bound to be the highlights of how people live in this city in order to maintain an image. So imagine a day where all you do is sip cocktails and get treated to a spa day with one of the most fashionable brands universally known. Coco Chanel.

With elegance, royalty, and a timeless presence, this is exactly what has been the Coco to our Chanel for years.

An event had been circling around social media through a short list of my social circle, and my acquaintance Carmen with Wanted+Desired sent me the link in order to rsvp. The I love Coco Chanel beauty event where women and wo-men are able to be treated to a day of luxury complimentary of Chanel. Initially,  I was taken aback that it was organized through Event Brite and then later to the open public, I was sure that every Tom, Dick and Harry or rather Betty, Sue and Sally would be in attendance. Either way I quickly chose a time slot in the midst of another event and rsvped myself with a plus four.

With a blink of an eye, all the slots were completely sold out for reservations and I could later see why. At 12:30 myself and Lauren, The Leaux Project , arrived to the Sunset streets where the roads were either blocked off or chaotic due to all that’s been building up for the Oscars. The event was being held at Bar Marmont just a few steps away from the Chateau. After circling around for parking knowing that valet was my only dreaded other option against meter parking, I lucked out by finding a spot just a heel and hike away.

A line had started to form and I started to realize that there was an unplanned dress code. I figured that for both fashion events I would be attending I’d keep it classic and black, but unbeknownst to me, that seemed to be the only fashion choice from everyone else’s closet; excluding Lauren who ended up sticking out like a sore thumb.

Now there is one thing about events that will immediately win me over.

1) food 2) open bar 3) male models.

What I was not expecting were the men checking us into the event. Oblivious at first, I waltz right past two until I realized that they just happened to be extremely attractive and dressed in all black as well. Lauren and I arrived early, but they still checked us in, in order to enter and so began our day.

The moment I stepped through the door I saw my dear old friend Colton whom I’ve known for a solid time during the Jump start of his career in modeling. Every once in awhile he’ll become this ridiculously handsome guy that I don’t recognize, but on the other hand he’ll always have that same sweet smile that I once first met. Los Angeles can be so small yet so big even after just moving back into the country, but you’re always bound to run into people who can either be a regret or just by sheer luck. I’ll say he’s my lucky charm.

Because he was working the event, I couldn’t really take him away from monitoring the Chanel pins that women ambushed leaving me to help out by organizing exactly how they were placed. Another gentleman standing near by had given Lauren and I a number on a card for the mini manicure room before women created a traffic jam just to get a reservation. Good thing that we took a number when we did, because we were on a time crunch and with every 5 minutes, the wait became longer.

Forget the nail salons and your day time appointment, this was where you wanted to be. A room of fabulous women who had their time spent with professional manicurist jumped at the given opportunity.

In the mean time while waiting, we decided to browse through the back room. Out of all the times I’ve been here, I’ve never taken a peek knowing what was behind the curtains. I’ve always just gone straight to the bar.

The room was set up with mountains of lipstick and nail polish for a mini make over. Because I’m extremely particular with lipsticks, unlike many women, I either just stick with a natural hue that fits my complexion, which for some dumb reason is referred to as “sexy chocolate” or the darker colors with a brown or purple tint.

I bypassed the options although they were lovely, and went right for the photo booth. Oh photo booths how I adore you and yet it seems like I’m not the only one who felt that way. I noticed young women playing with silver and gold star stickers so I decided to get creative and add one to my look. I was hoping it didn’t look like a spec of glitter that just so happened to fall on my face, but after a few compliments, it worked.

Because the machine didn’t allow us to send ourselves the photos, I just took the opportunity in placing them where ever I saw photo magic.

A lovely woman was nice enough to offer us sweet ice tea as we looked around. One guy who found himself in a room full of make-up frenzy women, had the smart idea of blending in with the wall while I did the same once it got too crowded.

Finally our number was up and another considerate woman put Lauren and I side by side. We each chose a color from the wall where she went for a bright red, Rouge Essential, and I went for the classic nude, Organdi. Our manicurist Karla and Sam put up with our shenanigans the entire time as we tried to engage them with our jokes and conversation. I don’t think they were ready for our Lucy and Ethel, but aside from their mild tones, they were truly sweet.

Apparently the color I had chosen wasn’t as “daring” as the bold choice that Lauren chose and based off the opinion of a women who looked like a million dollars, I decided to add just a little touch of rebellion with, Roubachka, on the one finger I would tell life if it threw me a lemon. Though to keep it classy, I decided to move the finger one step down.

After the perfected work our manicurist had done, they finished us off with a touch of gel and we entered our manicured nails into a mini photo box that was against the wall where we could take a photo shoot with our nail job. Some did a little bit more extreme and made a complete photo booth out of it. Not sure how those photos turned out.

With the help of these hotties, Sterling and Wade, they new exactly what the blogger life entailed being as catering to my fumbling needs as possible. I wasn’t too sure of what would jump out of my purse when they opened it, but I appreciated the chivalry and also with the given fact that I didn’t need a smudge. Swirl life!

Throughout the rest of the event, our time became a circus scenario trying to avoid any polish accidents in between taking photos and other activities.

Carmen had finally arrived, and we waited for her to get her chance at a manicure before we found other things to peak our interest.

Aside from the ice tea and soda water, I started noticing women walking around with what looked like cocktails on trays from the bar. I knew it was happy hour somewhere, but unfortunately, these were non alcoholic. Virgin Mojitos, Screw drivers and Mai Tais were nothing but sugar on ice, but with the full week I’ve been having, I needed that major sugar rush.

I noticed a stage in the lounge area that was set up as if a band were to play. I even thought that one guest happened to be preparing for a performance,  but in reality it was set up for guest to have their photos taken as if a part of a band. I quickly raced to grab Carmen once she was done and we performed for an audience.

image

I stole the show on the microphone, Lauren was struggling to play the guitar and Carmen was beating up the drums. Our audience clearly wasn’t all that entertained with our frivolous rock star acts of tripping over cords, spilling drinks and missing our camera marks since we took up all the time for other attendees to enjoy, but while we might have not been the next American Idols, I’m sure we were quite the comedic act.

image

Many of the guest started walking around with trending peel stamps of red kisses and I love Chanel quotes all over themselves and soon I found that they made these hunks even more useful by placing them on.

image

I found this guy, Alex, with a slew of kisses on his neck as if women had attacked him in a fit of sexual frustration, so I decided to play off that idea and playfully attack him myself.

Our time had to come to an end even though I would had totally stayed and flirted with the men while seeming tipsy on nothing but sugar, but we had to get back to our original Vanity Fair blogging festivities.

I will say that I was pleasantly surprised by the crowd that had attended. Nothing but fashionably and regal worthy men and women dressed in nothing but style and luxury. I’m happy I didn’t turn my nose up or snub this event even after seeing it plastered all over the walls of Melrose because it was definitely something worth going to.

Everything about our day made us feel pampered and girly which is why #IloveChanel and #CocoLovesLA
