STK GRAND PARTY

Los Angeles is set up in a way where either things stay or they go. That’s with lost dreams, businesses and relationships. It’s a cruel tough world in this city, but sometimes change is all for the better.

STK has been a successful restaurant in the popular location of La Cienega and other famous cities. Known for its celebrity clientele and hot spot trend, this has been one out of a few places that I’ve had yet walking into. To me, it was just another restaurant where I would cross paths with the same familiar faces that I’ve seen everywhere else.

Few go for the food, many go for the trend and most just go to be seen.

So, when I was invited to go to the relocation of their grand opening at the West Wood Village location, I’ll admit I was all game. This was right after the MGK event and I didn’t have all the details, but another shin dig was right up my alley.

West Wood Village is a gorgeous area. It’s small and quaint with beautiful homes at the price of your life, shopping, dinning and the home of the original W Hotel and in proximity of UCLA.

Not much further, you have Beverly Hills, Bel Air and Wilshire Blvd, so I found this area to be perfect other than there being a lack of parking. Shortly after our group had a few drinks between the four of us, myself, David, Efrem and Niko, we made our way towards the party. This was the one time we were taking a shot at getting in considering I never rsvped and was just tagging along with David, so we all got in my car. Not sure if that was a bright idea or not, but parking ended up with us just taking a huge risk, with my car of course, and parking at the Ralphs up the street. We casually walked in separate directions until we all met in the front of the building. It was as if it were an open invite since we walked in without being questioned. That’s typically how we hope it goes.

Once we walked into the front half of the building, I guess you can say one of the several lobby areas, a performance by Evan Ross, was waiting to begin. Though I don’t personally know Evan,  we have fallen in the same social circles, the same social crowds and house parties throughout all thirteen years of me being a “Socialite”. It would be a full page story or rather a book on its own, but what the hell

FLASHBACK TEASER

Okay, years ago there use to be this one minor hot spot by the name of Le Duex, that I use to frequent every Friday. In fact, Fridays were the hottest nights to be there being that every celebrity name you could imagine was in that building.  And yes we’re talking real celebrities who actually had rights to that title. Evan Ross was one of the many young Hollywood celebrity kids that you would find with a cigar in one hand and a bottle in the other standing on top of the black leather couches that over looked the water fountain and elite crowd of socialites and party goers. Then, the infamous crew, The Alliance and his former devils advocate KT were in charge of who was worth letting in and who just stood outside. Around this time it was rough. If you didn’t uphold an image that suited their taste and brand, well you were crap out of luck, but those who passed, well then you partied with the best. Towards the end of the night, the outdoor club would play Don’t Stop Believing by the famous group Journey, to end the night and that was the song that Evan would make it a point in serenading  the crowd. The last time we were in the same room was when we were at Zac Efrons house in the hills up until the crack of dawn. A moment when myself and some blonde girl (hmmm) were just hanging out in the kitchen, Evan tried to make conversation in the most quirkiest manner explaining the rules of secrecy. So, I’ll end it at that.

I knew that Evan had gotten into the music scene, but I just never knew if he could actually sing. With those ridiculous rumors of him being Michael Jackson’s son and with his high pitch voice, who knew. Unfortunately,  I couldn’t hear a word he was singing. His soft voice was completely drowned out by his own music and band. For years I’ve crushed on his lazy sultry eyes, but this time he just looked like he was running high on something. Of course it was no brainer that his glowing wife and mother to be, again, Ashley Simpson, was listening and swaying to every sound of his lyrics

Are you all ready for another teaser?

FLASHBACK

So, while I spent many of my years in the social scene, there was also another popular spot and this time Evan had the upper hand in its operations. Goa. It was hip, trendy and gave off a middle eastern Mediterranean vibe in my opinion. Preferably, I didn’t like it, but that’s where everyone went. Here’s the catcher. Remember that one time when Ashley Simpson dated singer Ryan Cabrera and his crazy hair? Yeah well, Evan and Ryan both had teamed up to build Goa as a successful social spot.

You tell your friends and I’ll tell my friends so we can all be friends”

After a while of only listening to him whispering into the microphone, Efrem and I moved towards the back and that’s where the real party was. All those in the front didn’t know what they were missing. I bumped into a lot of people that I knew. Now I was finally able to get this blue dress into work mode. It didn’t take long for the Dj to start bumping every 80’s and early 90’s jam for those like myself and Efrem who knew every word to every lyric.

Don’t be fooled by his sharp and dapper appearance, he had the entire building sweating out their Rolex and pearls. I dodged a few stares from men as I flung my hair and pulled down my tight dress with every carefree movement that I made. This was a crowd with wealth and money as well as celebrity status with a lot of names in the room, so to say that I had a crazy wild time among these individuals, I’d say was not your everyday outing. While many ate their free dinners by the tray full  and hobnobbed over champagne and money, I had more fun on what I made my personal dance floor and it didn’t stop there. We Will Rock You started playing and then came the trays of pink shots and sparklers with a beautiful group of servers dressed in black

I had about ten of them. It honestly tasted like juice and I never got a buzz, but the food on the other hand was a different story. The last time I ate this much and fell into a food coma was at the E3 Samsung Event.

Tuna tar tar, sliders with plastic cheese, oh gosh, I can barely even remember and the desserts… that was like a Willy Wonka invasion.

The servers brought the food out by the minute looking gorgeous and handsome with their own individual style and each tray of food came and went into our mouths.

These had to of been some of thee nicest servers I’ve ever grabbed food from while they walked around with the most welcoming smiles. I even got a few of them to sing and dance along with me to the Spice Girls and Michael Jackson. I kind of wish that my friend Lauren got the job she applied for with them. She would’ve fit in perfectly with this group and I’m sure would’ve made enough money to even treat me to a steak dinner..

After hours of dancing on my natural high with all my friends, I thought why not take photos in front of the STK banner. Luckily for Efrem and I while Dave and Niko stayed in the VIP area making their rounds talking it up with girls, we got the chance to take a few special pictures. Nicole Murphy and Cynthia Bailey, were already on the red carpet as her husband Peter took the shots. I noticed them earlier and caught the eye of one of their male friends, but I was in my own world at that point. I watched as they posed for the camera and even tried taking a photo of them myself, but then I just felt like your average creepy fan even though they approved of it, so instead, I just asked if they didn’t mind us taking a photo with them.

They were uber cool about it, and lucky for Efrem and I, there was a couple ready and waiting to take it for us as long as we exchanged the favor of some photos by themselves.

Would you know that I have a flashback on Nicole and her family? Here we go again.

LAST FLASHBACK

I’ll make this one short. My mother grew up with Eddie Murphy and his family, particularly his aunt and first cousins, in the Bronx just before his first movie. When I was younger and spent my child summers in New York, we’d go to his aunts apartment where I remember seeing a family photo on the living room  wooden dresser of Nicole and her children dressed in all white when they were younger. I never met any of them, but still after all these years, my mother stayed close with his family who I just recently visited a few years ago, and this was my first time meeting Nicole. I wouldn’t even know where to begin in building up that conversation with her now.

At this point I was nearly all danced out until Niko said he was ready to head out. Throughout the evening with all the fun I was having, in the back of my mind I was getting anxiety with my car being in an unsupervised lot. We were so desperate to park my car that we took the risk, but at my expense, so I ate all that I could eat, took enough shots, flirted playfully and got enough to write this blog. One of the head security guards or possibly managers took my business cards to invite me back and we made our way out the building.  David was nowhere to be found and my friend Odain and his partner were ready to be taken home. The end of the night ended up with me being an uber driver and making several trips to make sure everyone got home safely. Dave on the other hand, well I’m sure he made it home in one piece.

STK you already know we had a fabulous time
