Tequila Tuesdays

THE MELROSE UMBRELLA CO

image

Under my Social Saturdays I brought to you the Melrose Umbrella Co and all its neighborhood craft cocktail glory.
In my last review for the social nights I had given warning to either have an updated GPS or a passenger, because trying to find this place might have you chasing your tail unless you’re familiar with the area.

Wheres Waldo?! Do you see it?
Yeah….I would have missed it too, infact I did about five times. This here marks your destination at the Melrose Umbrella Co. where the drinks are strong and the food is impacted with flavor. As I had mentioned before Social Saturdays I was there attending a birthday gathering  and to my surprise being in a bar atmosphere I truly enjoyed my time. It added a few bonus points that the doorman and many of the male patrons were easy on the eyes, which made me feel as if I were being set up for a single and mingle night.

The outside isn’t as noticeably appealing as it brings a more chic appearance inside, but creatively you can see where there was a more personal approach to the decor.

So typically when it comes to picking out my drinks I sometimes need a little help from friends because they for the most part know my taste buds.  Some are still learning. Even I myself don’t always know what I’ll guzzle down or just blatantly spit out, and trusting a bartender to give you their honest opinion is like asking an alcoholic, No pun intended, what their favorite liquor is….(Everything) well that narrows it down.

Even the Handcrafted cocktail names are complicated, but when you see something that just seems like its going to be good I say try it! I had my eye set on the Croatian Vacation because that’s exactly what I needed. The ingredients were pretty simple not too complex and it didn’t come across as some repulsive tasting processed or liquidity pureed drinks. Hence the strawberries ingredient.

Apparently I wasn’t the only one needing a vacation Cheers! This drink, to explain in a nutshell I left nothing but the edible flower (Meaning I was drinking Jessicas while she was in the middle of a conversation, it was that good). My drink was lightly fruited with a zest of lime and what tasted like a hint of alcohol, although my eyes started twitching towards the end of the night, and well a lot of ice… A LOT of ice so sip slow.

Aside from my taste buds being dry I was equally famished and had a craving for some serious meat… not just the men. Their food menu was very interesting, but impacted mouthwatering senses that matched its flavor. I had a pastrami sandwich with some type of apple spread. They were cut into two slices and delivered to our table in a wait for it…to go box. (What the hell?!) including the order receipt.  The only thing Jess could think of saying was Bye Felicia!  If this is your first time eating here I promise you that they are not gesturing for you to leave. I did find it a tad bit on the tacky side to say the least, but I still ate my sandwich including a few bites from Jess and I found it to be at a reasonable price I might add. Definitely worth your buck!

Thats more like it and in real champagne glasses too! For the birthday girl we were spoiled with drinks on top of drinks and the bubbly only Turned up the party as we continued our night with laughs, conversations and flirty gestures. Our servers were extremely attentive and made sure that the drinks kept coming. Much easier than trying to make your way to the bar.

Clearly that girl wasn’t having much luck (Thats what you get for trying to photobomb) but I love how the birthday girl Julissa (In white) walked around with her very own bottle. Now that’s having your cake and eating it too! I’ve also read that some of their Mixologist are pretty cratfy outside of whats on the menu and that they can create a drink to your imagination based off their talented skills. Now thats a bar! Im not all that positive if they have a Happy Hour even with the decent prices on both food and drinks  because it’s every bit worth what you’re paying for, but if they did this would definitely be my new Happy Hour spot.

Open 7 days out of the week Sunday – Wednesday 4pm -11pm
And Thursday – Saturday 4pm -2am I’d say the best time to go is probably around the hours of 9pm and so on. Im a girl who likes crowds. If you do plan on having a larger group make sure to make your way to their website for reservations at  www.MelrosUmbrellaCo.com as it is a first come first serve. Even though there is plenty of seating can’t always guarantee you’ll snag a seat. My top two choices of cocktails are Drum roll please! The Croatian Vacation and the Romance Without Pressure  so drink up!
